What a Go Business Valuation range is, and what it is not.

Last updated: 15 September 2026

1. An asking price range, not a sale price

Our ranges come from the asking prices of comparable businesses. Asking prices are what sellers advertised. What a buyer finally pays is often different, and depends on negotiation, due diligence, terms and timing. A range is for the whole business including its stock and plant and equipment; land and buildings are excluded unless you tell us the price includes them.

2. Not a formal valuation

A range is an indicative estimate produced automatically from the figures you enter. It is not a formal, registered or independent valuation, and it should not be used for lending, tax, legal, court, insurance, shareholder or accounting purposes.

3. Not advice

Nothing on the site is financial, investment, legal, accounting or tax advice. Before listing, buying or selling a business, talk to a qualified adviser such as a chartered accountant, lawyer or business broker.

4. What the range cannot see

The range reflects your business type, location, size, figures and the market, as far as the evidence supports them. It cannot see things like lease terms, how verifiable your accounts are, how dependent the business is on you, staff, customers, or the condition of equipment and stock, which can move a real price a long way.

5. Accuracy

We measure how far our ranges typically are from real asking prices and show that figure with every result. It is a typical error, not a guarantee: some businesses will sit well outside the range. The result is only as good as the figures you enter.

6. Use at your own risk

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any decision made or loss suffered in reliance on a range. See our Terms of Use. Questions: admin@gobusinessvaluation.com.
